Should we allow for profit prisons to use people as slave labor to fulfill government contracts and also manufacture goods to for profit corps? This is nothing more than state sanctioned slavery. First off there should be no profit driven prison system. The long term ramifications of their existence is frightening to say the least. Imagine if you will a world in which Trump got his wall. All immigration is shut down, The need for farm workers is on the rise as crops begin to rot in the fields. In come the Private Prisons with free slave labor to save the day and harvest these dying crops. Before long inmates start to riot or find ways to avoid work. So the Private Prison industry petitions each state to make misdemeanors and minor traffic violations punishable by a short 60 day stint in their sweat shops. The idea of Private Prisons having enough money to influence policy is a reality that we face now. Do we allow this monstrosity of capitalism to continue to exist or do we vote in someone progressive enough to make them illegal?
